MARION COUNTY, Fla. (WCJB) – Donald Browning has been appointed to the vacant Marion County School Board seat by Governor Ron DeSantis.

Browning was sworn in on August 30 as the District 2 representative.

When asked what Browning’s thoughts were on the mask warrants, he replied that he was on the governor’s side.

“I follow the governor’s thought and the science around the idea that you are not going for something as light as a mask that blocks a communication situation and you have to be able to see your teachers,” Browning explained. .

Browning says he is ready to analyze all the problems in the Marion County school system to improve not only his district, but all the students in the county.

“I want everyone in the school system, from the newest to the graduate students, to maximize their potential,” Browning said.

The seat was previously occupied by Beth McCall until she moved out of her district.
