MCCSC seeks new board member after Townsend Gides resigns



The board of directors of Monroe County Community School Corp. is looking for a new member to represent District 6, and has less than 30 days to fill this opening or the task will fall to a local judge.

Jacinda Townsend Gides’ resignation was announced at the MCCSC’s annual board reorganization meeting on Tuesday.

Gides was appointed to the board in January 2020 and won the seat election later that year. Candidates are being sought to fulfill the remainder of his term, which runs until 2024.

A qualified candidate must live in MCCSC District 6, which is on the northeast side of Bloomington and includes all or part of eight constituencies in Bloomington Township.

Board members receive $ 2,000 as base compensation for their services each year, as well as a per diem allowance of $ 112 for each regular meeting they attend and $ 62 for each additional meeting they attend.

Potential applicants should consult the statutes at and the district map to see if they are eligible. Applicants should be available for interviews on January 19 or 20.
