KPMG adds six professionals to its tax practice

KPMG US has announced the hiring of six partners, directors and managing directors in its tax business.

Britt Haxton (Principal, International Tax, Washington, DC) brings over 12 years of experience to KPMG. Previously, she spent more than a decade at global law firm McDermott Will & Emery, where she was most recently a partner in the firm’s DC office. She also spent nearly two years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of South Dakota.

Haxton holds a JD from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Creighton University.

Joe Vaccaro (partner, business tax services, New York) will assist KPMG clients in banking financial services and insurance taxation. He brings over 20 years of experience with a focus on tax law. He joins KPMG from Met Life, where he spent more than a dozen years and served as Senior Vice President and Global Chief Tax Officer. Prior to that, he spent nine years at AIG, where he served as a senior tax advisor. He started his career at PwC US.

Vaccaro holds a master’s degree in tax law and taxation from New York University, a JD from St. John’s University, and a bachelor’s degree in economics and accounting from the College of the Holy Cross.

Ilya Borukhov (Managing Director, Asset Management Tax, New York) has nearly 20 years of experience. He has spent the past seven years at Big Four rival Deloitte, where he was a senior director of tax and focused on private equity, hedge fund, credit fund and fund-of-funds clients. Prior to that, he spent nearly a decade at PwC, where he was tax manager for private equity and hedge funds. Borukhov started his career as a private equity accountant at Bisys Fund Services.

He holds a master’s degree in taxation from Baruch College.

Nelson Valentine (Managing Director, Asset Management Tax, New York) has 18 years of experience. He joins KPMG from MHR Fund Management, where he spent over five years and served as Head of Tax. Prior to that, Valentine spent over 12 years at Deloitte, where he was most recently Senior Director of International Tax.

He holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in accounting from the University of Mississippi.

mike rylant (General Manager, State and Local Taxes, Hartford, CT) has over 20 years of experience, having spent the last 12 years with the Stanley Black & Decker tool company, most recently as Senior Manager of state and local taxes. He also spent eight years at EY, where he was tax director.

Rylant holds a Master of Laws in Taxation from Boston University, a Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Providence College.

Suzy Fuller (General Manager, Real Estate and Financial Services Tax, New York) has 17 years of experience. She spent the last year at restaurant franchise group KBP Brands, where she was director of tax. Prior to that, Fuller spent a decade at KPMG, where she was senior director of tax. Earlier in her career, she was a tax accountant at RubinBrown LLP and a senior tax accountant at Williams Keepers.

Fuller holds a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
