Gallagher promotes Jonathan Foster to lead board in Toronto

Gallagher, a global insurance brokerage and human resources consulting firm, has promoted Jonathan Foster to senior vice president and head of the benefits and human resources consulting division in Toronto.

In his new role, Foster will play a central role in developing and managing client relationships in the region, as well as overseeing Gallagher’s consulting team in the nation’s largest market.

Gallagher’s consulting business includes offerings in benefits consulting, pension consulting, human resources and compensation, leadership assessment and development, and executive search. The Rolling Meadows, Illinois-based company has more than 39,000 professionals in 68 countries and posted more than $8 billion in revenue in 2021.

Foster has over 15 years of experience in total compensation consulting. He has deep expertise in compensation and governance issues, including reward philosophy, compensation review, incentive plan design, bonus programs, board evaluations and salary scales.

“Jonathan’s strategic direction and our strong team of talented consultants in Toronto will allow us to expand our service capabilities throughout the region and are a win-win solution for our clients,” said Sarah Beech, Regional Executive President for central Canada.

Foster has been with Gallagher since 2018, previously serving as Head of the Canadian Compensation Team. Prior to that, he spent a year as vice president of executive compensation at Accompass, a compensation and benefits specialist acquired by Gallagher.

Previously, Foster spent over eight years at Global Governance Advisors, a Toronto-based advisory firm specializing in board compensation and governance. Earlier in his career, he was an executive compensation analyst at Korn Ferry.

Foster holds an MBA from McMaster University and a BA in Psychology from Western University.

“I am thrilled to continue to grow with the Gallagher team and feel fortunate to work alongside the best consultants in the country,” said Foster. “This team has unlimited possibilities to help employers of all sizes manage their employees’ risks, achieve their organizational goals and face their future with confidence.”

Gallagher earlier this year purchased PCI Compensation Consulting, a Montreal-based provider of total compensation strategy, benchmarking, communications, training and outsourcing.
