BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – Erika McCalpine, a business faculty member who has championed social justice issues at Oregon State University, OSU-Cascades, and the Bend community, has been appointed executive director of strategic diversity initiatives at OSU-Cascades.
McCalpine, who teaches human resources, is the founder and director of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Lab on the Bend campus. She is also President-elect of the OSU Faculty Senate.
“Erika has demonstrated a remarkable ability to deal with complex and difficult social issues, and to build bridges between OSU campuses and throughout our community,” said Andrew Ketsdever, Acting Vice President of OSU-Cascades. “I am convinced that Erika will provide practical solutions as OSU-Cascades increases its capacity to advance diversity, equity and inclusion. “
In his new role, McCalpine will advise Ketsdever and campus leaders in designing and implementing strategies to advance social justice.
“I look forward to accelerating OSU-Cascades’ diversity, equity and inclusion efforts and continuing to work with partners in central Oregon as we create welcoming environments for people of all. horizons, ”McCalpine said.
His responsibilities will include the design and implementation of an annual diversity, equity and inclusion training program for employees, and the creation of an onboarding program that introduces new employees to the values of the campus focused on social justice.
McCalpine’s role will also focus on leveraging partnerships across OSU – including with the Office of Institutional Diversity, the University’s Student Affairs, Academic Relations and Marketing division and d ‘other academic and administrative units – which can support the faculty, staff and students of the Bend campus as they work towards diversity, equity and inclusion.
She will also engage community members in central Oregon on topics related to diversity, equity and inclusion through forums and events, and an annual diversity symposium. , equity and inclusion.
