Verjeana mccotter-jacobs is a bold and transformative leader with over 30 years of experience as a strong advocate in the legal, educational and public safety fields. Having held many leadership positions, she listens to diverse audiences, respects the importance of cultural competence and has a strong appreciation for the value of cross-sector collaborations within communities.
In her current role as Director of Transformation for the National School Boards Association (NSBA), Verjeana leads the organization’s member services, as well as equity, equality and social justice efforts. She was also president, of prince georges County Education Council; President, Maryland Association school boards; and President, National Council of Urban paintings education, leading key efforts in legislation, capital improvement and education reform.
Verjeana is a 23-year-old Corrections Department professional, who retired to the rank of lieutenant colonel and was an assistant professor at the college. University of Maryland, University College (UMUC), where she taught in a variety of disciplines including criminology / criminal justice, juvenile justice, race and crime, and a host of other legal and behavioral science subjects.
