In its second acquisition this month, BearingPoint acquired I Care, a sustainability consultancy with more than 80 consultants in France and Brazil.

Reflecting on the deal, BearingPoint’s global managing partner, Kiumars Hamidian, said I Care’s “strong reputation” and “proven practices and methodologies” will significantly expand BearingPoint’s sustainability capabilities, at a time when demand for the service is booming.

Launched in 2010, BearingPoint’s sustainability practice advises businesses and public organizations throughout the lifecycle of their (digital) sustainability program. The company also has a number of solutions in the field, including its Carbon Emissions Calculator.

With the 80 I Care consultants now onboarded, BearingPoint adds a layer of new offerings and new clients to its existing portfolio.

Created in 2008, I Care helps public organizations, associations, private companies and financial institutions to decarbonize their footprint. In space, I Care is particularly known for its strategic expertise around carbon and biodiversity planning and public policy development. Beyond sustainability, the consultancy also offers offerings focused on the S and G components of ESG.

“By hybridizing scientific and strategy consulting skills, I Care positions itself as a key player in helping organizations define and implement environmental strategies,” explains Hamidian.

Meanwhile, after the deal closes, the synergies between the two consultancies should help the newly married partners “develop compelling new value propositions for our existing clients,” Hamidian added.

“We want to leverage BearingPoint’s broader capabilities, especially in services such as emissions calculation and digital transformation, for the benefit of our existing customer base. Being part of a leading international consulting organization opens up an opportunity to further increase our impact on society,” commented Guillaume Neveux, Founder and CEO of I Care.

I Care will be integrated into the French business of BearingPoint, which has more than 1,000 employees. “We share the same entrepreneurial and holistic culture. We look forward to working together,” said Axelle Paquer, regional manager for France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Africa at BearingPoint.
