Allen named new member of Wauseon School Board


A new member of the Wauseon Exempted Village Schools Board of Education was sworn in on Friday.

Alice Allen has been nominated to fill the unexpired term of Stacia Radabaugh. Radabaugh resigned due to an out-of-state move.

Since she was chairman of the board, a change in management was also necessary. Amy Fisher is the new chair of the board while Larry Fruth will serve as vice-chair.

During the meeting, the Board approved several classified contracts. They offered Audrey Leininger a one-year contract as a preschool aide; one-year contract with Melanie Miller as three-hour cook; one-year contract with Stéphanie Martinez-Chapa, three-hour cook; one-year contract with Dana Lewis, two-hour cook; one-year contract with Michelle Borer, bus driver and full-time floating cook; and a one-year contract to Pamela Hodges, bus helper.

Council members also approved parental leave requests for Brittany Webster and Erin Cheesbro. Teaching assistants Veronica Canales, Sarah Leslie and Mallorie Hannon will change buildings.

Additional contracts approved included Joe Allen, head track coach; Michael Colon, Head Athletics Coach; Christian Crew, Head Junior Athletics Coach; Trent Thomas, baseball head coach; Michael Webster, head coach of junior high school athletics; Kyle Borton, assistant athletics coach; Veronica Canales, Junior High School Head Coach; Rebecca Rupp, boys tennis coach; and Tom Vernot, assistant track coach.

Frank Rocha was approved as a volunteer archery coach for the school and James Reeves as a volunteer wrestling coach. John Zuchowski has been approved as an adult pool worker.

Additional District Mentor contracts have been approved for Mark Britsch, Michelle Borton, Julie Grime, Amy Kreiner, Lynelle Nofziger, Ashley Oyer, Andrea Stevens, James Vaughn, Amy Warncke and Amber Wonderly.

Also at the meeting, the board approved several donations. Among them was the donation of a $6,536 cross-cable weight machine from the Tomahawk Wrestling Club.

Other donations included $1,000 from the Greg and Sherry Suon Charitable Fund to the district for the pantry, $1,000 from Wauseon Machine to the Wauseon Machine Scholarship Fund, glasses and hand sanitizer from Becky Flores, The Bargain Bin, in high school, $250 from Threads of Love Ministry in the elementary pantry, $250 from Lowell and Linda Richer in the elementary pantry, food items and six $100 Knights of Columbus gift cards in the pantry, supplies from Howard Hannah Real Estate at Wauseon Elementary School and supplies from Walmart at Elementary School.

The board also heard a presentation from Keith Leatherman, high school principal, regarding College Credit Plus and approved participation in the Ohio School Board and to allow the board to advertise and receive offers on behalf of the district. .
